Luke 8:16-17 "No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open."
But I remembered something someone said to me that puts this parable into another perspective.
I remember it as.. no one lights a candle outside in the daytime.
I think this is just another way of putting it.. which follows along with Jesus telling that the sick need the doctor, not the healthy.
And it also kind of goes along with the last blog.. where we get no credit from loving those who love us back.
We must love the ones who don't love us. Give without expecting return.
luke 7:41 " 'Two men owed money to a cetain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he conceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?' Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.' "
I remember talking to someone.. they had grown up in the church, and we were talking about how they had trouble with their faith and asked me where mine came from. We started talking about how since they had grown up in the church they had never really known life completely without God, and I had. If they could see Him from my perspective, they might see where my faith came from. For after all.. you have to hit rock bottom to realllyy see how high the top is.
alright, I've got to go to bed! goodnight all.
Nikke's thoughts
While reading I was wondering why Jesus talks in parables. I think it is so interesting that He does this.
I was actually discussing with someone about why Jesus speaks this way a couple of days ago.
I think that it is so we can be drawn in to find and discover the truth for ourselves.
